  • 3rd Triniti Williams

JOAD Elimination Round Archer List

Above is the list of archers whose score earns them a spot in Sunday’s elimination event.

Compounds: 9am start

Recurves: 11:30 start

Barebows: 2:00pm start

The format for the state championship is a JOAD 600 Round.  In the northern venue, there will also be a head-to-head elimination tournament  the following day using the 600 Round results for seeding.

This is 60 arrows at a standard 4-color World Archery target (40cm or 60cm, depending on your category).   Awards will be given at the northern venue after the completion of competition.  Awards will be mailed out for those not present.

FOR THE SOUTHERN REGION

FOR THE NORTHERN REGION

  • February 1-2nd, 2020 (Saturday)
  • DuPage County Fairgrounds, Wheaton, IL
    • Building #1 (The big building)
  • 18m 600 Round — Sunday : 9:00 AM
  • (Sunday) Divisional Elimination Round — Follows the completion of the 600 Round
  • Registration closes January 26th.

Choose either venue.  The scores will be combined together statewide. State Champions will be announced at the end of competition on February 1st.

  • NEW FOR THIS YEAR: All 3-spot targets will be vertical 3-spot targets.  This is what all World Archery format tournaments are moving to.  During registration you will need to choose whether to use a single spot target or a 3-spot target, so we can arrange archers on a bale correctly.
  • All age, gender, and bow style  categories will comply with USA Archery guidelines.
  • All Compound competitors shoot on a 40cm target face.
  • All Compound competitors use the inner 10-Ring for scoring.
  • All Bowman and Cub Recurve and Barebow/Basic Bow competitors shoot on a 60cm target face.  All Cadet and Junior Recurve or Barebow/Basic Bow competitors will shoot on a 40cm FITA target face.
  • PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT.  YOU CAN PRE-REGISTER USING THE LINK BELOW.
  • Trophies or Medal awards will be presented to the first three places in each category.
  •  TOURNAMENT FEE       $35.00 each day  (Registrations within the final two weeks are an additional $10  Register after January 18th = $45.00)
    • Payments are online for the northern venue, and Cash or Check on site for the southern venue.
      • The discounts for the northern venue will be handled as a refund after registration.
      • Cancellations up to 18th will receive a full refund less 20%.  After Feb 10th there will be no refunds.
    • “Final two weeks” here means “final two weeks before registration closes” (which is one week before the event).
  • Arrive 1 hour before your start time for equipment inspection.
  • Arrow size must be 23/64 inches or smaller in diameter.  (Note: 2317s are too large, and cannot be used.)
  • The USA Archery dress code will be enforced. (Summary here)
  • Out of state shooters are welcome and eligible for medals.
  • For more information about what to expect at an ITAA event, read this helpful tournament primer.
  • Each shooting line has a maximum of 60 spaces.  After that, we’ll try to fill time requests if slots open up, but it’s better to sign up for any open slot in the meantime.
  • For indoor shooting at a single 60cm target face, multiple archers may use the same target face.  So you may be sharing a face with an archer on the other AB/CD line.
  • A double-line 600 round takes around 3 hours shooting time to complete.  With early arrival for check-in, shooting, and tear-down, plan on the 600 Round to require around 5 hours of time in your day.  For the northern venue, the elimination round tournament will add several more hours of archery action.

The JOAD State Indoor Championship will be requiring membership in a JOAD club for participation.

All shooters will be eligible for medals regardless of registry method.

JOAD Team Competition

This event also awards a team championship for the best team performance.

The JOAD Team Championship this year will awarded to the club with the highest score from the sum of:

  • Any 2 Compound shooters
  • Any 2 Recurve shooters
  • Any 1 Barebow shooter

So there are 5 scoring slots, regardless of JOAD age or gender.  We will take the highest scores, so you don’t have to designate specific shooters ahead of time.

We will be asking for your JOAD club name during registration to set up our team score keeping.  The Rcherz.com site has some quirks regarding entering club affiliations that can delay displaying your club on the event list.  As long as you’ve typed it into the registration form, we can retrieve it later when we go over the lists. We will follow up with entrants later if we cannot determine your JOAD club.

Northern Venue Elimination Round

At the northern venue, once Saturday’s 600 Round is completed and scores tabulated we will hold an elimination round on Sunday.  We will use the 600 Round scores as the seeds.  Like we have done in the past, we will combine the ages together and create an elimination tournament with 5 categories:

  • All Barebow
  • Compound Female
  • Compound Male
  • Recurve Female
  • Recurve Male

Cash awards will be given in each of these categories, which will increase depending on the participation in each division.

Iowa-Illinois Dual-State Championship

2016 was the inaugural year for the Iowa-Illinois dual-state championship, and we’re continuing the tradition.  This dual-state-medalsaward is won by having the highest combined score in your category of both the Illinois JOAD State Indoor and Iowa JOAD State Indoor championships.

The Iowa State JOAD Indoor Championships is February 8th, 2018.  The winter calendar this year makes the Dual State event tricky.  But it’s continuing!

CAN I HELP?

Setup of a big event can take nearly as long as the event does, and extra hands during setup can make it an easier process.  If you have time on the night before the northern 18m to set up at DuPage, contact Randy at info@illinoistargetarchery.org .

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Registration is now Open.  The registration links are at the bottom to view the sign-ups.

As always, you can sign up for either venue (or both, if you’re competing in multiple equipment categories).
