Summary:

September 11 Half Field

We had 17 shooters participate on a beautiful Saturday morning. The event utilized the second half of CBH’s field course. There was some phenomenal shooting by our archers, with Matt Anderson only dropping 10 points and Alice Lee only dropping 16 points.

Those who participated in June and September were eligible for aggregate awards and they are noted in the results. Thank you for your participation!

I saw lots of camaraderie and smiles and for the first time I can remember, we found all reported lost arrows!!

We would like to thank our volunteers who made this event possible. Tom Havel, our Master of Ceremonies, was also instrumental in setting the field. Ralph Campagna and Heather Hodge also prepped the course, while Heather and Andrew Querol were part of the arrow finding brigade! We also want to thank Andrew for acting as our registrar for both this event and the half field in June. We would also like to thank Tony Kaap for being our registration point person, for both the June and September dates.

Introduction:

The Chicago Bow Hunters Archery Club is pleased to host another Field Round event.  This is a shorter, Field Archery event, open to JOAD and adult archers.

While this event usually squeezes in a few parents as extra archers, this year the doors are open to all adults who would like to join in.

CHICAGO BOW HUNTERS BOLINGBROOK, ILLINOIS

The Chicago Bow Hunters Archery Club is pleased to host the Second Annual JOAD Field Tournament.  This tournament will be for all bow styles, age, and gender divisions that comply with USA Archery JOAD categories.  This event will be using NFAA-style field archery rules, though, which includes distances marked in yards, not meters.

 

Tournament Series:

This will be the first of a two tournament series. The second tournament will be in the fall. It will be conducted on the second half of the CBH field course. There will be aggregate awards to those shooting in both events.

Competition:

The tournament will take place on 14 targets of CBH’s permanent NFAA Field Range.  Four arrows at each target, for a total of 56 arrows.  Distances will be marked, and in yards.  The range of distances:

• Compound (Cadet and Junior+): 20FT-50YD
• Recurve and Barebow (Junior+): 20FT-50YD
• All younger age divisions and bow styles:  20FT-30YD

Novices:

20FT-15YD.  A novice can be any age or bow style.  Just consult with your coach if you are a new shooter to find out if this is your appropriate category.

With your coach’s recommendation, you can also shoot “up” in age category.  If you are Bowman or Cub, and the maximum shot of 50 yards is well within your skill set, you can register and compete with other Cadets or Juniors.

Awards:

Medals will be awarded for the first three placements in each division.  The award presentation will be at approximately 11:30 AM.  Aggregate awards will be presented then for the combined champions.

Pre-registration and Tournament Fee:

Pre-registration is required (fill out the form at the bottom of this page.).  The tournament fee is $15.  There is a maximum capacity of 56 shooters.

Schedule:

We will have a shotgun start at 9:00 AM. Pre tournament meeting will begin at 8:30 AM. Please arrive 60 minutes prior to our scheduled start to set up and warm up, receive instructions and get to your assigned positions on the field course.

The estimated amount of time to complete the course is two and a half hours from the time you get started.

Accommodations:

The kitchen at Chicago Bow Hunters will be in full swing. An all-you-can-eat lunch buffet will be available for $5. I’m checking on the kitchen plan. Unless otherwise posted here, count on food not being provided, still due to COVID stuff.

Location:

Chicago Bow Hunters is located in a residential neighborhood.  It is at 320 Charlestown Drive, Bolingbrook, IL 60440.  From Boughton Rd, Exit off of I-355, head west four stop lights.  Turn right on Pinecrest and go to one stop sign.  Turn left on Charlestown and go a few blocks.  From the street you will see a gated driveway on the right.
