Sometimes archery is fun even without the bow!
During major outdoor tournaments, the ITAA holds a for-fun arrow-throwing competition. The arrow thrown the furthest wins (and sometimes 2nd and 3rd place, too). We measure the winning distance and that gets added into the state record database.
The current and historical arrow chucking distance records are over here on the State Records page
The general rules are:
- You can only throw one arrow
- You can only throw an arrow that you have used in that day’s tournament (no fair using a special arrow just for throwing)
- You can start at the waiting line, but the arrow must be chucked before the shooting line. (That’s a 3 meter run-up)
